In 2016, the world bid a sad farewell for now, to one of our time's most ingenious and insightful mystics, musician and actor David Bowie.

In 1871, Rosicrucian author Edward Bulwer Lytton published the truth-in-fiction novel "The Coming Race," in which the narrator describes his accidental descent
to the Hollow Earth. There he is met by an ancient and advanced race of people
who utilize Vril energy. They are awaiting the day when they return to the surface, and lead humanity into a New Age of peaceful enlightenment.

In 1971, Bowie released a 100-year update to the story, in the form of a
song called "Oh! You Pretty Things." The song explains that the youth
of this age are now evolved into the enlightened ones, and details the
frustrations of the older generations' inability to adapt. He even quotes the
book's title in the songs' lyrics:

"Oh! You pretty things, don't you know you're driving your mommas
and poppas insane? Let me say it again, you gotta make way for the
Homo Superior. Look out at your children, see their faces in golden rays.
Don't kid yourself they belong to you, they're the start of the coming race."
I found a beautiful and amazing piano version of
"Blackstar" on YouTube, and was granted kind
permission to share it with you here:
In closing, I leave you with my own contribution to this tribute, a remix of "Space Oddity."
Below the streaming player (also free to download,) you will find the intsrumentation and technical specifications of the remix.

Bowie's acapella vocal track was slightly pitch-shifted, then sped up to tempo. Distortion effect added, some slight compression.
